Withdrawal from a unit

If you decide to withdraw from a unit, you must advise Swinburne University of Technology, Lilydale (please click here to download form) and Open Universities Australia, in writing, as soon as possible.

Please check www.open.edu.au for information on the financial penalties associated with withdrawing before and after the start of a Study Period.

· Before the Census Date (end of Week 3 of the Study Period)

If you advise Swinburne University of Technology, Lilydale and Open Universities Australia , in writing, of your withdrawal prior to the Census Date, a WD – Withdrawn grade will appear for the unit on your academic record.

· After the Census Date (end of Week 3 of the Study Period)

If you advise Swinburne University of Technology, Lilydale and Open Universities Australia, in writing, of your withdrawal after the Census Date, and no later than eight weeks after the start of the Study Period, a WDFP – Withdrawn grade, Fee Payable will appear for the unit on your academic record. In this instance, you will retain the FEE-HELP debt.

If the notification is received after week 8, NLWD – Not Pass , Late Withdrawal grade will appear for the unit on your academic record.

If you do not formally withdraw and you have submitted work, it will be assessed and a grade awarded accordingly. If no work for assessment has been submitted, a “Not Assessed” grade will appear on your academic record.
