Research

The Learning Disabilties/Dyslexia Project has a significant research component. Particular areas of research interest include:

  • The prevalence of learning disabilities/dyslexia in Australian schools.
  • The prevalence of learning disabilities/dyslexia in Australian prisons.
  • The efficacy of programs for students who have learning disabilities/dyslexia that focus on teaching students to positively address their situation and adopt the attributes that successful adults who have learning disabilities/dyslexia have been found to use ( e.g., assertiveness, creativity and perseverance).
  • The usefulness to students who have learning disabilities/dyslexia of technologies (e.g, speech to text software and hand held computers).
  • Success factors for Australian adults who have learning disabilities/dyslexia
