Bachelor of Design (Multimedia Design) / Bachelor of Business

A double degree in design and business will provide you with the unique opportunity to explore the creative and practical skills of design while learning the principles of business and management, ensuring you are well equipped for employment in the increasingly creative industry sector.

The business component of the double degree will equip you with a diverse range of theoretical knowledge and practical skills to prepare you for the demands of tomorrow's business world. The course is designed to enhance a number of generic skills highly valued by employers such as self-awareness, presentation and communication skills. You will be required to select one of the following business majors:

  • Management
  • Marketing
  • Public Relations

Alternatively, you may choose to undertake units from Accounting, Economics, Economics/Finance or Human Resource Management.

The Multimedia Design program equips you with design skills that extend across a range of media. As a multimedia design student, you will design for a variety of outcomes such as interactive web and games development, 2D and 3D animation, digital video and post-production work. Multimedia is an industry co-evolving with rapid technological development. Swinburne students are equipped with solid design skills that will help shape the future of the multimedia design industry.

Course structure

The double degree programs consist of one design major, one business major and a cluster of units in core design and business studies. Total student contact hours, including lectures, classes, tutorials, and laboratory sessions, will be approximately 12 hours/week during academic semesters. In stage one all units will be undertaken at the Prahran campus, stage two at Lilydale and Prahran, stage three at Lilydale and stage four at Lilydale and Prahran.
