Melba - Australia's Greatest Daughter
Production of an Interactive CDROM

The production of the Melba CDROM and teachers' resource materials are part of the Dame Nellie Melba Research and Exhibitions Development Project supported by the Commonwealth Government Federation Fund.
The Centre for eBusiness and Communication has worked with the Lilydale Historical Society who obtained the original grant, the Museum of Lillydale and Learning and Teaching Support at Swinburne on the project. The result has been an exciting set of digital and interactive web based materials to showcase Dame Nellie Melba's life and achievements, of interest to both students and the general public.

The CDROM maps Melba's life and includes archival film footage early sound recordings, photographs and press clippings. Melba's story can be experienced via a timeline, the archive materials or through the explore collage of photographs. The design of the CDROM makes the journey individual. Information can be gained from the narration, from the printed word as well film and music.
A copy of the CDROM was made available free of charge to all schools in Melbourne's East. A Teachers' Resource manual has been designed to enrich the experience provided by the CDROM and provide further student activity.
The CDROM won Best AudioVisual / Multimedia In the Victorian Community History Awards 2001.
Copies of the CDROM are available from the Lilydale Historical Society: www.lilydalehistorical.com.au
