Welcome
The Centre for Regional Development
Collaboration and partnership allows the Centre to develop and explore models for regional development as well as undertake effective initiatives.
Research efforts are strongly tied to the surrounding regions and provide practical benefit to the regions' economic, social and environmental performance.
The Centre’s multidisciplinary approach to regional development includes areas such as tourism, agribusiness, small and medium sized business performance, sustainable communities, rural regional development and peri-urban issues as well as social and cultural regional development.
The Centre for Regional Development seeks to explore and expand the role of the university in the region and maximize student community engagement in learning, research and work related experience.
The team at the Centre has developed:
- an understanding of the social, environmental and economic factors affecting Australia’s communities and extensive experience in the identification and use of community sustainability indicators;
- strong relationships with local government and positive outcomes from collaborating with local authorities; and
- an understanding of the role of universities in regional development.
